Job summary

Packsize is hiring a PLC/Controls engineer in Louisville, KY to manage and sustain complex PLC OOP code bases across Codesys, B&R, and Siemens platforms. You will also develop new code, read electrical schematics, and contribute to safety and continuous improvement efforts.

The role involves traveling up to 10% to customer sites and collaborating in an agile environment with a strong emphasis on code architecture, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ME/EE/CS or similar.
• Motion physics and advanced motion control programming.
• Experience in high-level OO languages (Python, C, C++, C#).
• IEC 61131-2/PLCopen languages; structured text essential, FBD a plus.
• Experience with Git/SVN for code development and management.
• Industrial Ethernet (EtherCAT, PowerLink).
• Familiar with closed-loop feedback control strategies.
• Programmable safety expertise.
• Experience with Codesys, Siemens, and B&R Automation Studio; TwinCAT a plus.
• Familiar with agile product development approaches.

Responsibilities

• Manage and sustain PLC code bases for various industrial controls platforms.
• Develop high level OO structured text code in Codesys, B&R Automation, and Siemens.
• Commission new machines (servo drives, sensors, actuators).
• Help architect code and maintain repositories.
• Document control application designs and program automation applications.
• Develop formal test plans and scripts with testing team.
• Estimate implementation effort and troubleshoot issues.
• Track and report project status (Azure DevOps, Confluence).
• Travel to customer locations to resolve technical problems.
• Mentor other engineers and support remote/on-site operations.
