Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation seeks a Senior Platforms Engineer for the Refining IT Edge team to design, govern, and evolve secure, scalable hybrid and multi-cloud platforms. You will champion automation through Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD practices, and policy-driven infrastructure to ensure consistency, speed, and reliability across environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant IT infrastructure experience.
• Experience racking infrastructure hardware (Dell/HP).
• Experience with Linux/Windows Server, VMware/Nutanix, and storage systems.
• Experience with cloud integrations (Azure/AWS).
• Experience with backup/recovery (Rubrik) and disaster recovery planning.
• Proven ownership of large-scale initiatives (cloud migrations, data center transformations).
• Experience in regulated or complex environments (security/compliance).

Responsibilities

• Identify bottlenecks and optimize platform performance and resource utilization.
• Lead cross-functional platform and vendor collaboration and troubleshooting.
• Plan and test disaster recovery and backup strategies.
• Design secure, scalable hybrid and multi-cloud platforms with IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive modernization while balancing technical, operational, and business priorities.
• Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing across teams.
