Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a Senior Platforms Engineer to design, evolve, and govern secure, scalable hybrid and multi-cloud platforms. You will lead automation via Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and policy-driven infrastructure, aligning with enterprise business needs while balancing technical and operational priorities.

The role requires hands-on leadership across data centers, cloud (Azure, AWS), containers, and edge technologies, with strong focus on reliability,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience required.
• Experience racking infrastructure hardware such as Dell or HP.
• Experience in server infrastructure including Linux, Windows Server, VMware, Hyper‑V/Nutanix, and storage systems.
• Experience with cloud integrations (Azure, AWS) preferred.
• Experience in backup and recovery strategies (Rubrik) and DR/BC exercises preferred.
• Proven ownership of large-scale initiatives in enterprise cloud migrations or data center transformations preferred.
• Experience operating in regulated or complex environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve platform and system performance.
• Contribute to troubleshooting procedures to minimize downtime and improve support processes.
• Lead disaster recovery design and testing; ensure automated, resilient platforms with strong cybersecurity practices.
• Analyze performance data; prepare reports and drive continuous improvements.
• Lead design and configuration of complex platforms and systems across data centers, cloud, containers, and edge technologies.
• Maintain knowledge base and mentor engineers; promote cross-team collaboration.
