Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a Senior Platforms Engineer for the Refining IT Edge team. The role focuses on designing and governing scalable hybrid and multi‑cloud platforms, with automation via Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD to ensure reliability and security.

The ideal candidate will lead cross‑functional initiatives, manage vendor partnerships, and drive modernization across data centers, cloud, containers, and edge technologies, including IoT and drone integrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent information technology experience.
• Minimum 5+ years in relevant infrastructure roles.
• Experience with enterprise cloud, on‑prem data centers, and edge tech.
• Strong background in IaC, CI/CD, and automation.

Responsibilities

• Identify bottlenecks and optimize platform performance and resources.
• Lead platform design for hybrid and multi‑cloud environments.
• Develop automated, observable infrastructure with backup and security.
• mentor engineers and align initiatives with business goals.
