Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation seeks a Senior Platforms Engineer for the Refining IT Edge team to design and govern secure, scalable hybrid and multi-cloud platforms. You will lead automation via Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and policy-driven infrastructure across data centers, cloud, containers, and edge technologies.

You will drive modernization, oversee vendor partnerships, and mentor engineers while balancing technical, operational, and business priorities to deliver measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field; equivalent experience preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant infrastructure experience in large environments.
• Experience with data centers, cloud, and virtualization technologies.
• Backup and recovery experience (e.g., Rubrik) and DR/BC planning preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify bottlenecks, conduct root-cause analysis and implement solutions to optimize platform and system performance.
• Lead disaster recovery design, testing, and automation for resilient platforms.
• Design secure, scalable hybrid and multi-cloud platforms (Azure, on-prem) with IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive modernization initiatives and governance across cross-functional teams and vendors.
• Create and maintain knowledge bases, mentor engineers, and promote cross-team collaboration.
