AppFolio is seeking a Senior Software Engineer on the Permissions team to design and build the authorization platform that governs who can do what across all AppFolio products. This foundation keeps customer data safe and workflows trustworthy, at scale.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with authorization or security-sensitive systems.
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails, Go, or React with TypeScript.
• Experience designing end-to-end platform systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the authorization platform — the roles, policies, and access checks that other teams build on top of.
• Improve the speed and reliability of permission checks so they stay fast as usage grows.
• Build the interfaces, libraries, and tooling that other engineering teams use to easily add access control to their own features.
• Lead the migration of older permissions logic onto the modern authorization platform, reducing risk and complexity.
