Job summary

Oyster is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to shape the platform between code and production, focusing on CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, observability, and developer tooling. You’ll simplify infrastructure and improve reliability, working with distributed teams and employing AI to boost productivity.

You will design, implement, and operate scalable AWS-based systems, promote best practices in reliability, and collaborate across security and infra teams in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE or similar production engineering role.
• Strong software development skills to build automation and platform tooling.
• Proven design/operation of production systems on AWS.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent).
• Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and production debugging tools (Datadog, Sentry).
• Knowledge of reliability, incident response, and operational best practices.
• Platform mindset: treat internal teams as customers and reduce cognitive load.
• Excellent communication in remote, asynchronous environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain internal tooling and abstractions to simplify developer workflows.
• Build and improve automated CI/CD pipelines for safe, frequent deployments.
• Operate and enhance Oyster’s AWS infrastructure with IaC and cost-conscious practices.
• Apply SRE practices to improve reliability and reduce outages.
• Explore AI and automation to boost developer productivity and streamline workflows.
• Turn recurring pain points into scalable platform solutions with data-driven feedback.
• Collaborate with application, security, and infra teams to ensure secure, reliable software.
