Job summary

Oyster is hiring a Senior Data Engineer focused on the AI Platform. You will build and maintain data pipelines and reusable services, enabling AI use cases across the company. You’ll work with AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, and tools like dbt and Airflow to move data from prototype to production.

You will ensure data quality, governance, and secure access while partnering with Engineering, Product, and IT to scale AI capabilities across Oyster’s globally distributed teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data/ML platform engineering or related roles with production systems.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks or similar platforms; dbt/Airflow a plus.
• Hands-on with LLMs/generative AI and AI workflows.
• Knowledge of security, governance and enterprise data access.

Responsibilities

• Design and build data pipelines and platform capabilities for AI applications.
• Develop data/knowledge pipelines for ingestion, embeddings, retrieval, and vector search.
• Build reusable services and developer tooling for AI production.
• Apply data engineering practices: quality, lineage, access, reliability, governance.
• Establish patterns for AI deployment, observability, lifecycle, and cost.
• Collaborate with Engineers, Product, and IT to scale AI use cases.
• Ensure security, privacy, and access controls meet Oyster requirements.
• Evaluate emerging AI/data tech for business value.
