Job summary

Pair Team is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to build scalable infrastructure and shared engineering capabilities that empower every product team. You’ll own core platform services and patterns across AWS, Rails apps, and data integrations, enabling teams to move faster with self-service workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience as an IC, building/operating production backend systems.
• Deep expertise in Ruby on Rails with strong understanding of application and data layers.
• Strong relational database skills with data modeling and query optimization.
• Experience building and operating platform-level capabilities like authentication/RBAC, jobs and queues, CI/CD, deployments, and integrations.
• Ability to work across application and infrastructure layers; AWS and Terraform experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the shared platform layer across systems including Patient Care Application, AWS, Vendor Integrations, Postgres, Snowflake, GitHub, CI/CD, and other critical systems.
• Establish reusable patterns and conventions for interacting with infrastructure.
• Design and improve cloud infrastructure with scalability, reliability, security, and developer experience in mind.
• Build core Rails-based services including authorization/RBAC, job queues, deployments, and integrations.
• Own foundational infrastructure and services under product teams including platform, IAM, HIE, EMR, and integration layers.
• Improve developer experience and velocity by removing bottlenecks and enabling self-service workflows.
• Build for scale to support growth in engineering teams, products, and integrations.
• Partner with product/engineering teams to understand needs and build platform capabilities.
• Set technical standards and architectural conventions for others to follow.
• Operate production infrastructure and improve reliability and resilience of critical systems.
