Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a Senior Platforms Engineer for the Refining IT Edge team in Findlay, OH. You will design, govern, and optimize secure, scalable hybrid and multi-cloud platforms with emphasis on automation, CI/CD, and policy-driven infrastructure.

You will lead cross-functional programs, ensure reliability, and balance technical with business priorities while mentoring engineers. This role requires senior-level cloud architecture expertise and hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of infrastructure/platform engineering experience.
• Experience with data centers, cloud, containers, and edge technologies.
• Experience integrating with cloud-based systems such as Azure/AWS.
• Experience with backup/recovery strategies and Rubrik.
• Experience operating in regulated or complex environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize platform and system performance.
• Lead troubleshooting procedures and minimize downtime using ITIL practices.
• Lead disaster recovery design and testing with automated platforms.
• Analyze data to identify trends and drive continuous improvements.
• Design and configure complex hybrid/multi-cloud platforms using IaC and CI/CD.
• Drive modernization initiatives with stakeholders and measurable outcomes.
• Create and maintain knowledge base and mentor engineers.
