Job summary

Tereina is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Platform team in San Francisco to design, build, and maintain core systems that enable banking integrations and high-volume payments.

You will work with Product, Architecture, and other Engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure APIs and robust transaction processing. This role emphasizes security, reliability, and performance in a fast-paced fintech startup environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering, with scalable backend and APIs experience.
• Commercial payments knowledge preferred.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring; containerization with Kubernetes.
• Experience with microservices and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience designing distributed systems, databases, caching, queues.
• Security-first mindset for financial services contexts and compliance.
• AI tooling proficiency using modern coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot).
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Platform Development: Design and implement core platform services, APIs, and infrastructure for banking integrations and payments processing.
• Integration Engineering: Build secure, scalable integrations with financial institutions and networks.
• Code Quality & Best Practices: Write clean, well-tested code and uphold architectural standards.
• System Reliability: Ensure high availability and performance with monitoring and error handling.
