Job summary

Tereina is building the next generation B2B payments platform. We are a well-funded, SAP-backed startup delivering cross-border payments, AML screening, and real‑time rails with Java and Spring Boot microservices on Kubernetes.

You will own end-to-end payment services, join a small, collaborative team, and ship features that handle initiation, validation, routing, settlement, and reconciliation across diverse rails.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in software engineering, with experience building backend services.
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, REST APIs, and relational databases.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, messaging, and fault-tolerant design.
• Familiarity with payments domain and ISO 20022 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Payment Flow Development: implement features across payment request and execution in Java/Spring Boot microservices.
• Processor & Bank Integrations: build adapters for banking partners and processors with API/webhook connectivity and sandbox/testing.
• Correctness by Design: ensure idempotency, auditable state, and safe redelivery with full revision history.
• Ledger & Reconciliation: contribute to postings and fund-state transitions, reconciliations against provider balances.
• Exceptions & Operations Tooling: improve error handling, reprocessing, and operator tooling for failed payments.
• Code Quality: write well-tested code and participate in design reviews and docs.
• Production Ownership: monitor health, incident response, and on-call rotations with follow-the-sun coverage.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: work with Product, Operations, QA, Platform, SAP Integrations, and partners.
