Job summary

Tereina is building cutting-edge B2B payments infrastructure in San Francisco. Reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, you will lead the Payment Team, shaping end-to-end money movement from initiation to settlement, partnering with platforms, banks, and compliance to deliver reliable, auditable, and scalable payment services.

You will expand money flow by integrating with banks and networks, while growing a high-performing distributed engineering team and maintaining rigorous security

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software engineering, including at least 3 years managing engineers in a technical leadership role.
• Deep understanding of commercial payments and money movement across rails such as ACH, wires, SWIFT, or real-time payments.
• Track record of building and operating integrations with banks, payment processors, or financial partners.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Kubernetes, with microservices and distributed systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and evolution of the payment flow from initiation to reconciliation.
• Lead integrations with banks, payment networks, and fintech partners across rails, currencies, and certification.
• Build tooling to orchestrate and operate the payment flow, incl. routing, retries, and status visibility.
• Own the architecture and contracts with Platform, SAP Integrations, and UX teams; enforce reliability and compliance.
• Contribute hands-on to code and architecture while guiding technical direction.
• Hire, develop, and mentor the Payment Team across time zones; foster inclusion and excellence.
• Own production health: monitoring, on-call, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Product, Platform, UX, SAP Eng, Compliance, and partners for predictable delivery.
