Job summary

FIS in New York City is seeking a senior Banking Platform Engineer to own core services from design to production. You will work on an AI-enabled banking platform for Tier-1 institutions, building, operating, and scaling services across core banking, workflows, and compliance.

You will shape APIs, events, data contracts, and reliability at enterprise scale, with a focus on correctness and end-to-end ownership, including on-call and incident response.

Qualifications

• Deep experience designing and building complex distributed systems at Tier-1 scale.
• Strongly typed, compiled language experience; Go preferred or equivalent.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka).
• Concurreny, invariants, idempotency, and distributed-system trade-offs understanding.
• Experience operating and debugging production systems and on-call/incident response.

Responsibilities

• Own services throughout their lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment, operation, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in on-call and incident response, diagnosing failures across distributed services and data infrastructure.
• Establish observability, alerting, operational controls, and recovery procedures to improve reliability.
