Job summary

GitHub is seeking an engineer to scale a high-leverage platform that powers Copilot’s agent surfaces like Copilot Coding Agent and chat experiences. You will own end-to-end components, drive API design, security, and policy enforcement, and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable, secure services.

You will work across Go services, distributed data, and IAM considerations, shaping the next generation of remote steering and agent infrastructure, in a remote-friendly United States environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering or related technical discipline with production software delivery experience.
• 3+ years of Go (or Ruby) experience.
• 3+ years building and operating distributed backend systems with API design and data modeling.
• 2+ years designing and evolving public or partner APIs with versioning.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate API surfaces for Copilot agent experiences.
• Own and evolve agent registry and remote steering policies.
• Drive API design using OpenAPI and coordinate schema changes across teams.
• Write architecture decision records and proposals for platform capabilities.
• Ship safely at scale with feature flag gated rollouts across tenants.
• Mentor through code reviews, pair programming, and Go idioms.
