Job summary

GitHub, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Copilot AI Models team. You will build and operate a scalable platform powering Copilot features, focusing on highly available backend services and APIs.

You will work with engineers and PMs across GitHub and partner teams to improve reliability, performance, and maintainability of the Copilot API platform, enabling seamless integration with Copilot capabilities for developers worldwide.

Qualifications

Minimum 9+ years of software engineering or 8+ with an Associate's degree as alternate path.
Experience building and operating distributed systems in production.
Experience delivering production software in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
Strong knowledge of reliability, performance, and scalability considerations.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test and ship scalable solutions across GitHub services.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement innovative solutions.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, code reviews, and pair programming.
Own health and quality of systems, including on-call rotations.
