Job summary

GitHub is seeking an engineer for a remote-first role focused on the Copilot coding agent ecosystem. You will design and operate core APIs that power Copilot surfaces across CLI, IDEs, and web clients, while scaling with robust security and governance.

You will own the agent registry, steer model policies, and drive OpenAPI-centric API changes. The role demands deep Go expertise, distributed systems experience, and collaboration across multiple GitHub teams to deliver scalable platform

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in Software Engineering or related technical discipline with production coding in multiple languages.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the Sessions and Tasks APIs for Copilot surfaces.
• Own and evolve the agent registry and remote steering models with policy controls.
• Drive API design using OpenAPI, coordinate schema changes across teams.
• Write architecture decision records for new platform capabilities.
• Ship safely at scale with feature flag gated rollouts across multiple tenants.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews and mentor teammates.
• Collaborate with distributed teams on data modeling, deployment, and health practices.
• Contribute to security/IAM discussions and enterprise policy issues.
