Job summary

GitHub is hiring for Mission Control to scale the Copilot Coding Agent platform and its session services. You will design and operate APIs across Go services, CosmosDB, and event-driven components, while shaping policy, security, and multi-tenant reliability.

You will lead architectural decisions, mentor teams, and drive standardized API practices across orgs to support growth across multiple surfaces including CLI and chat integrations.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of software engineering experience delivering production software.
• Experience with Go and distributed backend systems.
• Experience designing and evolving public or partner APIs with versioning.
• Willingness to lead design reviews and mentor peers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the Sessions and Tasks APIs that back Copilot agent surfaces.
• Own and evolve the agent registry and remote steering model with enterprise settings.
• Drive spec-first API design and coordinate schema changes across teams.
• Write architecture decisions and proposals for new platform capabilities.
