Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design and deliver backend services powering AI agent workflows. You will help shape architectural decisions, build cloud infrastructure, and raise engineering standards across distributed systems.

You will own observability, CI/CD pipelines, and on-call incident response while collaborating with product, applied-AI, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, scalable platforms.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python or another backend language with distributed systems experience.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, API design, and AWS.
• IaC practices and container orchestration with Kubernetes (EKS).
• Experience with CI/CD and progressive delivery patterns.
• Hands-on observability tooling (OpenTelemetry, Datadog).
• Familiarity with LLM/Generative AI infrastructure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver backend and platform services powering AI agent workflows.
• Contribute to CI/CD and progressive-delivery infrastructure for safe deployment.
• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Make sound architectural decisions for scalable, reliable microservices.
• Collaborate with product, applied-AI, and infra teams on cross-functional projects.
• Uphold engineering standards including testing, observability, and reviews.
• Build observability through metrics, logging, and tracing for production systems.
• Support on-call rotations and incident response to protect user experience.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
