Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable backend services powering AI agent workflows. You'll own cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC, driving cross-functional projects across Product, Applied AI, and Infrastructure teams.

You will mentor engineers, improve observability and performance across Kubernetes-based systems, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure reliability and fast delivery of AI-enabled capabilities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating large-scale backend systems in production environments, in a lead capacity for 1–2 years.
• Strong proficiency in Python (FastAPI or similar) or another backend language, with experience building distributed systems and cloud-native apps.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and caching/messaging (Redis), API design, and AWS services including cloud AI runtimes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and delivery of backend and platform services powering AI agent workflows.
• Own and evolve cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and IaC practices enabling safe, continuous deployment.
• Drive cross-functional technical initiatives with Product, Applied AI, and Infrastructure teams.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, performance, and cost efficiency across Kubernetes and managed AI runtimes.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and raise the bar for code quality and testing.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support customer-facing systems and internal platform tooling.
