Job summary

Thomson Reuters seeks a seasoned backend/platform engineer to design and operate scalable services powering AI agent workflows. You will own ingestion, orchestration, document handling, and cloud infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on reliability and observability.

You will contribute to CI/CD, progressive delivery, and on-call rotation, while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with product and AI teams to deliver safe, scalable solutions in a hybrid US role.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend systems in production.
• Experience with Python (FastAPI or similar) or another backend language and distributed systems.
• Experience with relational databases, caching/messaging, API design, and AWS, including Kubernetes (EKS).
• Experience with CI/CD and progressive delivery patterns.
• Infrastructure-as-Code practices for cloud infra.
• Observability tooling for production systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver backend/platform services powering AI agent workflows.
• Contribute to CI/CD and progressive-delivery infra for safe, continuous shipping.
• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using IaC practices.
• Make architectural decisions focusing on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product, AI, and infra teams on cross-functional initiatives.
• Uphold engineering standards, code quality, testing, and observability.
• Build observability: metrics, logging, tracing for system health.
• Participate in on-call rotation to protect customer experience.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
