Job summary

Thomson Reuters Foundation is seeking a senior backend platform engineer to design and operate cloud-based services that power AI agent workflows. You will build scalable microservices, manage AWS/EKS infrastructure, and drive observability and CI/CD practices across production systems.

You will collaborate with product, applied‑AI, and infra teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to on-call incident response while maintaining high engineering standards and reliability.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python and backend design for distributed systems.
• Experience with relational databases and caching (PostgreSQL, Redis).
• Cloud-native development with AWS and Kubernetes (EKS).
• Experience with CI/CD and progressive delivery patterns.
• Infrastructure-as-Code practices and observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver backend and platform services powering AI agent workflows.
• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using IaC; ensure scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with product, applied‑AI, and infra teams on cross‑functional initiatives.
• Uphold engineering standards: testing, observability, CI/CD, and incident response.
• Develop and maintain observability into services; monitor health and performance.
• Participate in on-call rotations and mentor junior engineers.
