Job summary

Valar Atomics in Torrance, California, seeks a Principal Software Engineer to own the architecture of the telemetry and enterprise systems. You will set the direction for software engineers, tackle the hardest problems, and collaborate with reactor, manufacturing, and operations teams to build faster tooling.

You will lead end-to-end design of high-volume telemetry, streaming backbones, and simulation platforms, while guiding best practices for a regulated energy company.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development with platform ownership.
• Experience with high-volume telemetry/time-series systems and streaming architectures.
• Experience building enterprise and engineering software and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end architecture of Valar's software platform across telemetry, streaming, simulation, and enterprise systems.
• Design high-volume telemetry ingestion and a scalable streaming backbone.
• Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and ensure quality in a regulated environment.
