Job summary

8th Light seeks a Principal Engineer to lead platform strategy and delivery for client engagements across multiple industries. You will guide architecture, scalability, and observability while mentoring teams and driving production‑grade solutions.

You’ll work in a remote‑first environment with hubs across the US, Canada, and the UK, contributing to modernizing legacy systems and advancing agentic software products.

Qualifications

• Platform engineering: building reusable foundations and dev platforms for other teams.
• Data Engineering with Databricks for data processing and analytics.
• Agentic systems delivery including RAG pipelines and vector search.
• DevSecOps & DevOps practice across client engagements.
• MLOps practices across the ML lifecycle.
• Infrastructure as Code to enable scalable deployments.

Responsibilities

• Build trust with clients by demonstrating technical expertise and domain understanding.
• Drive platform engineering work at the client level, linking vision to ships.
• Lead platform strategy and delivery across diverse platform types.
• Balance technology choices while delivering high‑quality work on deadlines.
• Advise on architecture, scalability, and platform evolution for business outcomes.
• Collaborate on systems covering data ingestion to model deployment and monitoring.
• Drive innovation by surfacing new technical approaches and product solutions.
• Lead retrospectives and formal feedback with teams and clients.
• Document outcomes and drive actionable next steps with stakeholders.
• Contribute to 8th Light culture by mentoring and sharing knowledge.
