Job summary

Target is hiring a Principal Engineer for AI Platforms, Forward Deployed Engineering, and AI Builder Experience. You will lead how teams build, deploy, and operate AI-powered applications at enterprise scale, shaping reusable platform capabilities across engineering groups.

You will architect production-grade AI solutions, including agentic and LLM-powered systems, and establish scalable patterns for model integration, observability, and deployment.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent industry experience.
• 8+ years designing, building, and operating large-scale software platforms and AI/ML systems.
• Strong hands-on software engineering and ability to deliver production-grade systems.
• Experience delivering AI applications including LLM-powered or agentic systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for building, integrating, deploying, and operating AI-powered applications.
• Architect scalable AI platform capabilities and reusable APIs/SDKs.
• Lead end-to-end AI developer experience including onboarding, testing, evaluation, deployment and observability.
