Job summary

Toyota Financial Services seeks a Principal Architect to own the technical coherence of our greenfield cloud-native platform. This IC role spans application, data, AI/ML, and infrastructure, guiding architectural decisions and engaging hands-on code work.

You will lead design reviews, set engineering standards, and drive cross-team alignment across AWS-based services. Strong communication and mentoring are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years as a hands-on architect or principal IC on AWS-based platforms.
• Proven track record of owning full-platform architecture decisions in production.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end reference architecture for the engineering platform including application, data, AI/ML, and infrastructure layers.
• Make binding architectural decisions and author RFCs, ADRs, and design documents.
• Lead platform-wide design reviews and architecture forums across engineering leads and product.
• Define and enforce engineering standards for API design, IaC, security, observability, and deployment safety.
• Identify and resolve systemic risks before incidents, including performance and reliability gaps.
• Evaluate new technologies and AWS services balancing innovation with maturity and team capability.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to hiring for architectural excellence.
