Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Englewood, CO is seeking a Piping Engineer to perform high‑level analyses and provide senior technical support on complex piping systems in compliance with ASME codes. The role emphasizes hydraulics, vibration, and hydrodynamic load evaluations, with a focus on cost‑effective, safe designs.

The position requires 5+ years of piping experience, strong communication, and the ability to lead automation initiatives using Python/MATLAB.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree with emphasis on solid mechanics and finite element analysis.
• Five or more years of piping engineering experience.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and ASME BPV Section III piping codes.
• Knowledge of pipe supports design and application.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. work authorization—no sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex calculations and designs of a complex nature.
• Prepare design input for drawings (P&IDs, Master Diagrams) and review drawings.
• Prepare bid evaluations including economic calculations and vendor data solicitation.
• Prepare and review reports, budgets, schedules, and work plans; monitor progress within budget.
• Provide input to proposals and communicate clearly with project teams.
• Summarize meeting notes and present technical information concisely.
• Lead others in applying automation/AI to improve workflows and oversee automated outputs.
• Oversee engineers who script in Python, MATLAB to automate tasks.
• Commit to a hybrid work schedule with in-office work 3 days per week.
