Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is seeking a Senior Laboratory Assistant (Phlebotomy) for the 11pm-7am shift. You will assist lab staff with daily operations, specimen management, inventory, and communication with providers and other laboratories.

The role includes processing samples, ensuring specimen quality, and handling blood products while maintaining strict compliance with policies and safety guidelines. A strong background in laboratory work and good computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School degree with 12 college credits in biology or chemistry.
• Laboratory experience including handling blood and body fluids.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word; good computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Screening and accessioning specimens in the LIS as described in the Lab Assistant Job Description.
• Maintain adequate supplies and communicate needs to supervisor.
• Ensure proper receipt and storage of laboratory materials per policy.
• Correctly prepare samples for analysis (labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, transport).
• Perform phlebotomy services for inpatients and assist in blood product handling.
