Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn in Sunset Park seeks a Senior Laboratory Assistant (Phlebotomy) for the night shift. This role supports lab staff with specimen processing, accessioning, inventory control, and both front-end and back-end workflows to ensure high-quality samples and timely communication with providers.

Requires a high school diploma with biology/chemistry credits, basic computer skills (Excel/Word), and phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 12 biology/chemistry credits.
• Laboratory experience including handling open containers of blood and body fluids.
• Knowledge of computer applications, especially Excel and Word.
• Phlebotomy experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen and accession specimens in LIS per protocol.
• Maintain supplies and equipment; notify supervisor when low.
• Receive, store, and document laboratory materials per policy.
• Prepare samples for analysis (labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, transport).
• Process samples for storage and disposal according to policy.
• Disinfect work surfaces and maintain logs for temperature/humidity.
