NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, a full-service teaching hospital in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, is seeking a Senior Laboratory Assistant (Phlebotomy) to support daily lab operations. You will handle specimen management, accessioning, data entry, and front/back-end processing of samples.

The role emphasizes accuracy, communication with providers, and maintaining equipment and logs. This position requires a high school diploma with biology/chemistry coursework and strong computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 12 biology/chemistry credits required.
• Laboratory experience including handling blood/body fluids and intake/accessioning.
• Strong computer skills, esp. Excel and Word.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Screen and accession specimens in LIS as described in the Lab Assistant Job Description.
• Maintain supplies and reagents; inform supervisor when replenishment is needed.
• Ensure proper receipt and storage of laboratory materials per policy.
• Communicate specimen requirements to providers and document cancellations/rejections.
• Prepare samples for analysis (labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting) and transport.
• Perform phlebotomy services for inpatients and assist with instrument maintenance.
