Job summary

CSL Plasma Center in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Pheresis Technician to perform plasma collection and donor care. You will set up donors, monitor the process, perform venipuncture, and ensure compliance with SOPs and FDA guidelines.

You will educate donors, monitor for adverse events, document all activities in the donor information system, and assist with equipment maintenance and training as needed. A high school diploma and 18 months of medical experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 18 months experience in a medical/health care environment preferred.
• Specialized medical or phlebotomy training preferred.
• Bilingual skills may be required, at the organization’s discretion.

Responsibilities

• Perform pheresis procedures and plasma collection including donor setup, monitoring, and disconnect.
• Perform venipuncture to begin pheresis in accordance with SOPs and FDA guidelines.
• Evaluate vein performance and make adjustments to ensure donor safety and efficient donation.
• Educate donors on therapeutic plasma products, screening, appointments, and center policies.
• Monitor donor for reactions and assist staff as needed, recording incidents with the PDA.
• Record donor data in the electronic donor information management system per SOPs.
• Maintain equipment and respond to alarms, performing calibrations and maintenance as required.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and document incidents; replace equipment when needed.
• Ensure donor flow on the floor and communicate any issues to leadership.
• May provide training to donor floor staff and others as required.
• Collect arm or blood samples for testing as needed.
