Job summary

Natera is seeking a Sr Phlebotomist in Union, NJ to identify the best method for retrieving blood, prepare specimens for laboratory testing, and perform screening procedures.

This on-site role requires at least 5 years of phlebotomy experience, a high school diploma (BS/BA preferred), and a phlebotomy certificate if state requirements apply; HIPAA training and PHI handling are expected. You will uphold quality control, document collections, and coordinate with nursing staff and physicians.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience
• BS/BA degree preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Phlebotomy Certificate if required by State

Responsibilities

• Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log
• Verifies patient identity
• Obtains blood specimens by venipuncture and finger sticks
• Maintains specimen integrity using aseptic technique
• Tracks collected specimens including times of collection
• Maintains quality results and logs in QC records
• Ensures safe, compliant work environment
• Resolves unusual test orders by contacting physicians/references lab
• Updates job knowledge through training and professional development
• Enhances department and hospital reputation through ownership of new requests
• Works with PHI and access to PHI systems
• Completes HIPAA/PHI privacy and security training within 30 days
• Keeps current status on Natera training requirements
• Handles patient reports logistics and billing triage
• Schedules courier pickups (FedEx/MedSpeed)
