Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience.

• Phlebotomy Certificate if required by State.

Responsibilities

• Verifies test requisitions and coordinates with nursing station; resolve discrepancies.
• Verifies patient identity and collects blood specimens by venipuncture or finger sticks.
• Maintains specimen integrity using aseptic technique and follows department procedures.
• Tracks collected specimens and maintains daily tallies of collections.
• Maintains quality results by following procedures and logging results in quality-control log.
• Ensures a safe work environment and complies with legal regulations.
• Resolves unusual orders by contacting physicians or labs and escalating when needed.
• Participates in training and professional development; maintains PHI privacy and security compliance.
• Supports HIPAA/PHI privacy training within 30 days of hire and adheres to hospital policies.
• Performs logistics like printing patient reports and handling billing questions; coordinates courier pickups.
