Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a full-time Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our Ambulatory Care Pharmacies. Under supervision, you will support inventory management, regulatory auditing, sterile compounding, and record maintenance, coordinating technical activities across River Crossing and related sites.

You will assist with ordering, monitor usage to reduce waste and cost, and participate in recalls, data collection, and 100% inventory.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at the time of hire.
• National certification through PTCB or NHA with ongoing education.
• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Four years of post-high school science experience or four years of pharmacy technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in inventory management activities.
• Assist with ordering supplies and medications for pharmacy areas.
• Monitor usage patterns and adjust PAR levels.
• Maintain an inventory to reduce waste and costs.
• Participate in medication recalls and data collection.
• Perform 100% inventory for designated pharmacy locations.
• Prepare patient-specific compounded sterile products under supervision.
• Perform daily cleanroom maintenance and hood decontamination per SOP.
• Balance cash receipts and assist with billing accuracy.
• Coordinate third-party rejections reconciliation and patient communication.
• Contribute to pharmacy team management and training activities.
