Job summary

Supervising pharmacists and PPE protocols are part of daily practice. Candidates must be registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy, pursue ongoing education, and may be eligible as Technician Trainee or Certified Technician.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire.
• Two years of post-high-school experience and/or education in the natural sciences, or completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program.
• Must meet ongoing education requirements and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile compounds, including chemotherapy and hazardous medications, under pharmacist supervision.
• Use IV workflow technology and PPE according to SOPs.
• Perform cleanroom maintenance and decontamination activities.
• Maintain medication inventory and conduct frequent counts and audits.
• Assist with training of new technicians and student technicians.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
