Job summary

Great River Health Systems in West Burlington, IA, seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists with clerical tasks, drug distribution, and medication management under Iowa Board of Pharmacy guidelines.

You will prepare medications, stock carts, review patient medication profiles, ensure USP 795/797/800 compliance, and assist with inventory, IV admixtures, and routine distribution to nursing units and departments.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred sterile compounding experience.
• Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra and English language fundamentals.
• Familiarity with administrative and clerical procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist.
• May measure, mix, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications.
• Deliver medications to nursing units, operating rooms, and ED, including STAT meds.
• Stock and check inventory in dispensing cabinets and supply carts.
• Maintain patient profiles and ensure proper storage and handling of drugs.
• Ensure USP standards (795, 797, 800) and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with IV admixtures and hazardous medication disposal.
• Answer phones and respond to questions or requests.
