Job summary

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician (certified or trainee) to support Acute Care, IV Ads Pharmacy under pharmacist supervision. Duties include inventory, dispensing, labeling, and secure handling of medications, with exposure to Omnicell XT and related systems.

Minimum requirements cover Iowa Board registration, national certification (PTCB/NHA) or trainee status, and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at the time of hire.
National certification through PTCB or NHA and maintain ongoing education.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience with two years of post-high school experience/education in natural sciences or completion of an accredited technician program.

Responsibilities

Inventory maintenance in satellites and dispensing areas, including emergencies.
Review and manage expired medications and par levels.
Prepare labels, manage dispensing and documentation for inpatient orders.
Deliver and return medications to patient care areas, ensuring security.
Maintain controlled substances records and secure storage.
Operate Omnicell XT, Medications dispensing systems and related equipment.
Assist with training of pharmacy students and new technicians.
