Job summary

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics Downtown Campus Department of Pharmacy seeks a temporary Pharmacy Technician, certified or trainee, to support dispensing activities under supervision. Duties include inventory management, unit-dose preparation, and delivering medications to patient care areas.

Qualifications include registration with the Pharmacy Board, completion of a pharmacy technician training program, and national certification within one year if trainee.

Qualifications

• Registered with Pharmacy Board at time of hire.
• National certification: PTCB or NHA; ongoing education.
• All technicians must be certified within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform inventory maintenance and review for expired medications.
• Maintain medication inventory levels according to par levels.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas and return unused meds.
• Ensure security of medications in all areas including controlled substances.
• Generate and maintain records for medication distribution.
