Job summary

University of Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor is seeking a Pharmacy Buyer Senior to lead ambulatory care pharmaceutical purchasing across Community, Specialty, and Home Infusion pharmacies. This role emphasizes DSCSA compliance, cost-effective sourcing, and inventory optimization to support patient care and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Teams and Google Docs.
• Current valid license as a pharmacy technician by the State of Michigan Board of Pharmacy, or eligibility to become licensed.
• Good decision-making skills and proficient communication, computer and math skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in ambulatory care purchasing with independence for Community, Specialty and Home Infusion sites.
• Procure cell and gene therapies (CAGT) including procurement, workflow optimization and account establishment.
• Investigate and resolve DSCSA-related shipping/billing discrepancies.
• Maintain and update procurement elements in virtual inventory software (NDC, pricing, shortage notes, inventory levels).
• Analyze and implement cost savings opportunities via NDC optimization in ambulatory care pharmacies.
• Provide cross-coverage for other ambulatory care buyers and support drug shortage management.
