Job summary

Core States Group is seeking an experienced Permitting & Regulatory Compliance Specialist II to manage a defined caseload of permitting and compliance projects from application through approval. You will liaison with clients, agencies, and internal teams to ensure regulatory outcomes with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 4–6+ years of relevant experience in permitting, compliance, or related fields.
• Experience in architecture, planning, real estate, engineering, construction, government, or related field.
• Must have Retail petroleum / UST.
• Air quality permitting experience (strong plus).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong project and time management skills (client-facing).
• Demonstrated ability to identify practical uses for company-approved AI tools to improve team processes and decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to review AI-generated content for accuracy and protect confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage a defined caseload portfolio of permitting and compliance projects from initiation through approval.
• Serve as the primary liaison between clients, agencies, and internal teams.
• Prepare, review, and submit complete and accurate permit applications.
• Analyze and respond to agency comments and monitor project timelines.
• Identify risks early and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
• Coordinate regulatory analysis across disciplines (engineering, design, environmental).
• Maintain proactive communication with clients regarding status, risks, and outcomes.
• Delegate tasks to staff and review work for quality and completeness.
• Contribute to process improvements and documentation of best practices.
