Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to lead performance testing across large-scale healthcare technology programs. You will define strategies, build testing frameworks, model realistic workloads, and assess scalability, reliability, and capacity.

This is a remote position. The role collaborates with Development, DevOps, Cloud, Database, Product, and Business teams to identify bottlenecks, validate improvements, and set performance standards within CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of performance testing and engineering for large-scale web, mobile, and digital applications, APIs, and microservices; 2+ years in a technical lead role.
• Strong experience with REST, GraphQL, SOAP APIs, HTTP/S, and WebSockets.
• Proficiency deploying, executing, and managing JMeter in cloud-hosted containerized environments like Kubernetes on AWS.
• Experience integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines and supporting shift-left practices.
• Able to design workload models and generate performance reports to support release decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead performance testing activities including planning, workload modeling, test design, scripting, execution, analysis, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
• Partner with stakeholders to establish NFRs and performance SLOs aligned with business needs.
• Design and execute load, stress, spike, endurance, scalability, and capacity testing scenarios.
• Develop realistic workload models from production data and growth projections.
• Plan test environments, monitoring, data strategies, and distributed load generation.
• Analyze metrics to identify bottlenecks and provide remediation recommendations.
• Establish baselines and detect regressions across releases.
• Design, develop, and maintain performance testing frameworks and CI/CD integrations.
• Mentor engineers on performance engineering methodologies and best practices.
• Present findings to technical and business stakeholders.
