Intuit, Inc. in the United States seeks a Senior Payroll Tax Expert and SME to drive end-to-end resolution of payroll tax issues across notices, corrections, and amendments. The Staff Payroll Tax Processor serves as a technical lead and mentor, owning the most complex cases in the queue.

This role fixes payroll tax problems rather than running payroll, handling 941-X/W-2c filings across states and developing SOPs/KBs to improve processes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with focus on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notices; draft penalty abatements and agency responses.
• Experience preparing amended Federal/State returns (941-X, W-2c) across diverse states.
• Deep knowledge of FICA, FUTA, FITW and state/local tax compliance.
• Lead or SME experience; ability to coach junior staff through complex scenarios.
• Bachelor-level degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or related; CPP/EA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex state and federal payroll tax notices end-to-end, including multi-quarter scenarios.
• Prepare and file amended payroll tax returns across 10+ states; reconcile to original filings.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors spanning periods and jurisdictions; drive corrective workflows.
• Maintain high productivity in case resolution; handle notices, corrections, and amendments.
• Coach and mentor Senior Processors; share process knowledge and build team capability.
• Collaborate with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams to resolve issues.
