Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to lead complex tax defect resolution across state and federal notices, amendments, and corrections. You will mentor teammates, own the most challenging cases, and drive process improvements while ensuring timely resolutions.

The role emphasizes training, collaboration with Corrections and Amendments teams, and building team capability with strong Excel and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution and notice response across multiple states.
• Independent handling of complex notices, amended returns, and penalty abatement with documented results.
• Strong knowledge of federal/state payroll tax rules and local jurisdictions; able to draft agency responses and supporting documentation.
• Experience leading, coaching, and training junior staff in complex resolution scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex payroll tax notices across multiple states, owning the full lifecycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X, W-2c) across 10+ states.
• Diagnose and fix payroll tax errors across multiple periods and jurisdictions; trace to payroll runs and correct yields.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving corrections, amendments, and notices with accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers, and drive root-cause resolutions.
