Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor for its PTO team to resolve complex state and federal payroll tax notices, amendments, and corrections. The role leads as a technical SME, mentoring staff while handling the most challenging cases end-to-end.

We expect 4+ years of payroll tax defect resolution, expert knowledge of 941-X and W-2c, and strong Excel skills. Remote/hybrid options with flexible hours are available, with potential overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focusing on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and payroll error correction across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notice types; ability to draft penalty abatements and agency responses with supporting docs.
• Hands-on experience preparing and approving amended Federal (941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across states including PA, OH, etc.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex payroll tax notices across multiple states and quarters, owning the full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (941-X, W-2c) across 10+ states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors across multiple pay periods; trace discrepancies to payroll runs and drive corrections.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving corrections, amendments, and notice resolutions with high accuracy.
• Coach and support Senior Payroll Tax Processors, sharing knowledge to build team capability.
