Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and SME for our PTO team. This virtual, hourly role offers flexible hours from 20 to 40 per week and requires handling of the most complex payroll tax escalations.

You will own SOPs, coach staff, and drive process improvements while ensuring compliance and audit readiness. You will work with TP1-TP3 teams, approve complex amended returns, and leverage AI tools to optimize workflows.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focusing on complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Lead, senior specialist, or SME with coaching/mentoring junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of US tax payment and filing regulations across all jurisdictions.
• Advanced writing skills to create/approve SOPs and technical documents without revision.
• Strong ownership of SLAs, identifying red flags and removing workflow blockers.

Responsibilities

• Serve as real-time technical expert for TP1, TP2, TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and daily stand-ups when needed.
• Provide oversight of WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing adjustments.
