Job summary

Atlas Search in Chicago is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Manager to oversee full-cycle payroll for US multi-state and Canada, in a hybrid model (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).

You will lead a small team of two payroll professionals, ensure regulatory compliance, manage year-end reconciliations (W-2s and T4s), and partner with Accounting and HR on payroll reporting while maintaining Workday payroll and benefits processes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience of Payroll Tax Experience.
• Must have Multi Tax Payroll Experience - US & Canada
• Extensive and thorough knowledge of federal, multi-state, and local wage and hour, garnishment, and tax regulations
• Must have managerial experience
• Must have Workday Experience
• Intermediate/Advanced skills in Excel

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle payroll operations, including U.S. (multi-state) and Canadian payroll.
• Manage and mentor a team of two payroll professionals.
• Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations; act as a subject matter expert on payroll tax issues.
• Handle year-end tax reconciliations, including W-2s (U.S.) and T4s (Canada).
• Partner with Accounting and HR leadership on payroll reporting and analysis.
• Lead benefits administration, including open enrollment, employee inquiries, and claims management.
• Maintain accuracy and efficiency in Workday payroll and benefits systems.
