Job summary

The·TEAM is seeking a Payroll Lead to manage day-to-day U.S. and Canadian payroll operations from our Raleigh office.

This hands-on role will supervise two Payroll Specialists, ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, and serve as the payroll subject matter expert across cross-functional teams. You will partner with the Payroll Manager and Workday Analyst to strengthen controls, resolve issues, and drive process improvements while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive payroll experience, including complex or high-volume U.S. payroll
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, wage and hour requirements, deductions, and quarter/year-end processing
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with payroll reports and large data sets
• Workday Payroll experience preferred; Canadian payroll experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll operations for U.S. and Canada, including calendars, inputs, validations, approvals, and post-payroll activities
• Coach two Payroll Specialists and ensure cross-training and coverage
• Perform payroll audits and reconciliations; investigate variances and ensure accurate gross-to-net results
• Escalate complex payroll issues and coordinate year-end tax forms and adjustments
• Maintain payroll controls, process documentation, and compliance with federal/state/local requirements
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, Benefits, and payroll vendors on system changes and reporting
• Identify process gaps and implement practical improvements without compromising controls
• Provide coverage during absences to ensure uninterrupted payroll
• Partner with Workday Analyst on defects, testing, and integrations
