Job summary

THE·TEAM is seeking a Payroll Lead, NA to oversee U.S. and Canada payroll operations from Raleigh. You will manage two Payroll Specialists, ensure accurate and timely processing, and partner with Payroll, HR, and Finance to optimize controls and processes.

You will lead audits, handle complex issues like retroactive pay and multi-state concerns, and support system changes with Workday; Canadian payroll experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive payroll experience with hands-on responsibility for U.S. payroll.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, wage and hour requirements, payroll taxation, deductions, garnishments, reconciliations, and quarter/year-end processing.
• Excellent analytical and reconciliation abilities.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with payroll reports.
• Clear written and verbal communication across Payroll, HR, Finance, Benefits, and external vendors.
• Workday Payroll experience preferred.
• Canadian payroll experience across multiple provinces is a plus.
• Senior payroll processor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll operations for the U.S. and Canada.
• Coach two Payroll Specialists and ensure cross-training.
• Perform payroll audits, investigate variances, ensure accurate gross-to-net results.
• Escalate complex payroll issues and manage compliance and policy matters.
• Coordinate quarter-end and year-end payroll activities with internal partners and vendors.
• Maintain payroll controls, process docs, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, Benefits, and payroll systems analysts for improvements.
• Provide coverage during absences to ensure payroll continuity.
