• 5 years in-house payroll processing experience or an associate degree in accounting or business administration with 5 years in similar role.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Outlook.
• Knowledge of wage laws and tax regulations.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly multi-state hourly payroll (primarily union) and ensure employees are paid on time and accurately.
• Review new employee set-up information for completeness.
• Review time records and contact supervisors for any incomplete or unusual information.
• Enter/proof all employee time information for pay, tax reporting, and other reports.
• Prepare and distribute net pay via checks or direct deposits.
• Upload payroll journal entries and verify tax withholding, employer taxes, dues, benefits, and garnishments.
• Maintain knowledge of wage laws and union contracts; update payroll software accordingly.
• Prepare and file payroll-related reports (government, benefit plans, union reports, multi-state).
• Assist in quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns and respond to tax authorities.
• Assist with distribution of W-2s and coordination with external auditors.
• Resolve employee questions and support payroll team in policy updates.
• Perform other duties as needed.
