Job summary

Shiel Sexton is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team in Indiana. The role supports weekly and biweekly payroll processing, reconciliations, and compliance reporting, requiring 5–7 years of experience and a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.

The ideal candidate will have advanced Excel skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently and with a team. CPP certification is preferred, as is experience with multi-state payroll and UKG Pro.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of payroll experience required.
• Strong understanding of payroll processing and administration.
• Advanced Excel skills with large datasets.
• Ability to research, analyze and resolve discrepancies.
• Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet payroll deadlines.
• CPP certification preferred; UKG Pro experience preferred but not required.
• Experience with multi-state payroll and certified payroll reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Payroll Manager with weekly and biweekly payroll processing activities.
• Enter, maintain, and audit payroll and employee information.
• Research and resolve payroll reconciliations and discrepancies.
• Reconcile payroll-related vendor statements, reports, deductions, and employee records.
• Assist with certified payroll reporting and related documentation.
• Assist with OCIP/CCIP payroll reporting and recordkeeping.
• Prepare and maintain payroll spreadsheets, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Process employee deductions, adjustments, and payroll-related transactions.
• Respond to payroll questions and research issues as needed.
• Assist the Payroll Senior Manager with payroll compliance, reporting, reconciliations, audits, and special projects.
• Maintain organized payroll files and supporting documentation.
• Protect the confidentiality of employee and payroll information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
